The Rollei 6008 (and its sibling, the cheaper 6003) represents a milestone. Combining solid engineering, old ideas from the 35mm world and dozens of elegant and simple original ideas, Rollei built a machine that facilitates creativity and a high percentage of useable shots.

The 6008 is a 6x6 cm. camera in the mold established by Hasselblad in 1948. The camera is a box containing a mirror, motor drive, xmeter, some controls and displays and a microcomputer. Lenses, film magazines and viewfinders are interchangeable. Each lens contains a leaf shutter and diaphragm electronically controlled from the camera body.

The Rollei 6008 Integral is one of the most sophisticated 6 x 6cm Single-Lens-Reflex cameras on the market. The 6008 Integral combines the advantages of medium format photography with many fully professional features as well as unique handling convenience. As the name "Integral" implies, everything necessary has been built into the camera. Some of its many features include:

· Three metering systems

· Four exposure modes

· Built-in auto winder for shooting up to 2.5 frames per second

· Interchangeable pre-loadable film magazines

· Interchangeable waist level viewfinder magnifier lenses, and pentaprism

· Integrated flash control

· Rich selection of highest quality lenses from Carl-Zeiss and/or Schneider-Kreuznach

Integrated control centre

Easily legible LEDs indicate shutter speed and aperture.

With metered manual, a row of LED dots indicates whether the exposure is correct or not.

Symbols for exposure correction, AE lock and spot metering appear at the right-hand end of the LED display.

Exposure metering system is fully compatible with all interchangeable viewfinders and lenses (angle of view corresponds to measuring angle). 3 exposure metering systems.

Centre-weighted multi-zone metering For normal situations without any extreme light or colour contrasts.

Spot metering For pin-point metering with heavy contrasts (measuring angle 1 % of the frame area with standard 80 mm lens).

Multi-spot metering For specific metering of up to 5 subject details. The camera's computer calculates the average value, displayed in the viewfinder.

Integrated exposure programs

Aperture-priority AE for isolating main subject or overall sharpness from near to far.

Set the aperture, turn shutter speed dial to "A" (auto), shutter speed is set automatically.

Shutter-speed priority AE for pin-sharp or creatively blurred motion shots Select shutter speed, turn aperture ring to "A", appropriate f/stop is set automatically

Programmed AE for fast, changing situations. Set aperture ring and shutter speed dial to "A". Shutter speed can be kept at 1/125 sec or faster for shake-free, hand-held exposures.

Metered manual for special effects and experimenting. Row of LED dots in the finder checks for correct exposure.

Integrated exposure comfort

AE lock
Fix the exposure value (EV) by pressing the button; this setting is stored and used for the exposure even if the framing is subsequently changed.

Bracketing
In S +/- position, series of three exposures (one correct, one over and one underexposed by +/- 2/3 EV). The 3x series can also be shifted upwards, e.g. for backlit scenes.

Exposure correction
From- 4 2/3 to + 2 EV in click stops of 1/3 interval.

Multiple exposures
Double and multiple exposures with disengaged film advance (camera switch set to "ME"). Between the exposures, the viewfinder image is always visible for monitoring and composing the shot.

Integrated flash light control

TTL autoflash
Flash light metering on the film plane with the Rollei SCA 356 flash adapter and dedicated flash units (SCA 300). Fully synchronised up to their fastest speed of 1/500 or 1/1000 sec.

Automatic fill-in flash
For first time, a mixture of flash and ambient light through the automatic fill-in flash, which can be finely balanced in 1/3 steps up to 3 EV.

Integrated action grip

Ergonomically designed, can be clicked into three positions for comfortable hand-holding at any shooting angle.

Integrated motor drive

Remarkable frame advance speed for medium format of 2.5 fps and automatic exposure check between the individual shots. Automatic advance to frame 1 after inserting the film. Automatic film rewind after final frame with end of film indicated in display.

Integrated magazine concept

Unique integral laminar drawslide replaces the complicated separate magazine drawslides. Preloadable film inserts for fast working in 6x6 0r 4.5x6 format. Film speed display on magazine with automatic data transfer. Sophisticated locking system prevents inadvertent magazine removal. Warning given in the finder if the drawslide is not fully open.
